My latest thriller is complete at 70K words

30 September 2024

This has quite possibly been the longest amount of time it has taken me to write a novel. I started a new project June 2023, and completed the first draft of what I hope will be a new crime thriller series, during September 2024...

I haven't published a novel in some time, and combined with 2024 being a very difficult year - I've struggled to complete my latest WIP. With a few weekends spending quality time writing a bit here, a bit there, and some occasional evenings, over the course of time from Summer 2023, to Summer 2024 I managed to finish the first draft. I've read it, re-read it until I'm word-blind, but have submitted to agents in the hope of representation leading to publication.

My latest project is a little different from those who are familiar with my previous psychological thrillers, Mummy's Boy, & You Let Him In. I still write in first person narrative as that's the only way I know how to be character driven, but I have invented what I hope will be a lovable protagonist who involves herself in the darkest of tragedies.

Here's to keeping my fingers crossed, and hopefully some good news to share soon...

So who is J A Andrews, and what does he do?

J A Andrews is from Plymouth, Devon in the UK. He is the author of gripping twisty psychological thrillers where his characters are hiding many secrets, or exhibit shocking behaviours based on how their background has been shaped by others. Most novels are written in the first-person perspective to get a sense of the characters thoughts, actions, feelings, and most of all - their sinister intentions...

As well as writing thriller fiction, he enjoys reading a mix of genres, watching reality TV, planning as many trips as possible to Lanzarote, and spending valuable time with friends and family.
